Dan was the only lawyer who seemed to have time for me and knew that I had a case. He was personable, helpful, and most importantly he knew how to win without setting foot in a court room. The process was fast and he communicated with me through the entire process. I would highly recommend his services if you need a lawyer.

What Is Texas Employment Law?

Employment law focuses exclusively on the legal relationship between an employer and their employees. If an employee is subject to unlawful employment practices in the form of wrongful terminationbreach of contract, maternity leave violations, or unpaid overtime, they have the right to pursue legal action.

Texas starTexas employment law regulates employment procedures including the hiring process, job duties, wages, promotions, benefits, the work environment, employment reviews, and termination.

As a Texas employee, you are entitled to legal rights in the workplace, which include the freedom from any form of discrimination, the right to privacy, and fair compensation. If your rights have been violated, lawyer Dan A. Atkerson can advise you as to the most effective way to proceed and advocate on your behalf.

Featured Practice Areas

Unwanted sexual advances can create a hostile and intimidating work environment. Many employees are scared to speak out against unwanted sexual advances because they are afraid of retaliation and other negative consequences. An employment lawyer can determine if you have a case so you can hold the responsible party accountable and potentially protect future victims.

Although most employers are not required to provide severance packages to former employees, you may still need a lawyer if your employer breached their severance agreement or if the severance agreement contains unfair restrictions that could jeopardize your future employment. If you are owed a severance package, our attorney can help you negotiate a favorable resolution.

Texas is an at-will employment state, meaning that an employer can legally dismiss you at any time. But if you feel that you were wrongfully discharged because of your gender, race, age, or disability, you may need an employment lawyer on your side. Dan Atkerson can examine the details behind your dismissal and determine whether you have a case.

Federal law protects all employees from sexual and racial discrimination in the workplace. Unfortunately, many employers still discriminate based on age, disabilities, race, gender, gender identity, pregnancy, religion, sexual orientation, and national origin. If you feel that you are being treated differently based on any of these protected classes, we can help.
