A Texas college is being sued by a former employee who is accusing the school of discrimination. Specifically, the plaintiff was allegedly subjected to gender discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, workplace retaliation, FMLA violations and wrongful termination. Wow! If these allegations are true, it looks like Texas State Technical College was really looking to ruin this woman’s day in as many ways possible.

According to the sex discrimination lawsuit, the former employee had a number of pregnancy complications, which required her to take off work to meet with her physician on a few occasions. She says that her supervisor was initially very understanding and reassured her that her position with the school was not in jeopardy. However, it appears they were lying through their teeth since the plaintiff was fired immediately after leaving work to visit her doctor in February of 2015.

The woman also says that the school was kind enough to allow other employees to take sick days, and even hired temp workers to replace a number of them while they recovered, unlike in her case.

In addition to a trial by jury, the plaintiff is seeking damages for lost wages, reinstatement to her former position, and reimbursement of lawyer fees. She also hopes the jury will see fit to award punitive damages for the school’s actions.
